CORRELATION

This is a text heavy page that is necessary for understanding the timeline, and returning to ALPHA to progress further. The page is broken down into sections for easier reference

Your attention here is very much appreciated.

What is Correlation?

Correlation, in simple terms, is a relationship or connection between two things. When we say two things are correlated, it means that when one thing changes, the other tends to change in a predictable way as well. However, it's essential to note that correlation doesn't necessarily imply causation – just because two things are correlated doesn't mean that one causes the other.

Example

Imagine you're researching the relationship between exercise and weight loss. You collect data from a group of people about how often they exercise each week and measure their weight changes over several months.

After analyzing the data, you find a correlation between exercise frequency and weight loss. People who exercise more frequently tend to lose more weight, while those who exercise less often tend to lose less weight or even gain weight.

So, in this example, there's a correlation between exercise frequency and weight loss – as one increases (exercise frequency), the other tends to increase or decrease (weight loss or gain) in a predictable pattern.

As mentioned however, correlation is no causation. While it's logical to assume that exercise can lead to weight loss, other factors, such as diet, metabolism, and genetics, may also play a role.

How Eta - Dyo showcases Correlation

Following the Mars delay, nations turn inwards and focus on themselves. The frustration over the delay correlates to increased tension within the world. The closure of certain regions in the world due to the radiation leak also correlates as nations would rather cut off a part of the world then try and save it. The Mars delay cannot be said to have caused these events to transpire, but there are certainly correlations between them

Conclusion

Correlation refers to the relationship or connection between events, , where changes in one variable tend to coincide with changes in the other. While correlation can help identify patterns and associations, it's essential to remember that correlation does not imply causation.
